Mexico declined an offer to play England in a pre-World Cup friendly, according to Fox Deportes .
La Ultima Palabra host Andre Marin reported the Mexican federation balked at the likelihood that Fox would hold the television rights for the match and turned down a June 7 match. Costa Rica will play England on that date, the English FA announced Jan. 10.
Romero, Zelarayan not bound for River Plate
After being linked with River Plate during the winter both Club America forward Silvio Romero and Tigres midfielder Lucas Zelarayan are set to stay in Liga MX, according to Record .
America was willing to sell Romero after retooling its attack but couldn't come to a financial agreement with the Argentine giant. Los Millonarios were hoping to get Zelarayan on loan but Tigres didn't feel it had a replacement for the depth midfielder.
Hernandez targeted by LAFC
Major League Soccer expansion side Los Angeles FC are interested in West Ham striker Javier Hernandez, according to the Evening Standard.
Hernandez joined the Hammers from Bayer Leverkusen for £16 million last summer, and West Ham would reportedly need to recoup their investment in order to sell the Mexican international.
LAFC begin their first MLS season in March and could pair Hernandez with his international team-mate Carlos Vela, who has signed from Real Sociedad.
